Urban Capital Partners is a San Antonio-based 501(c)3 organization that was established as a life skills development organization to engage and encourage young people living in the urban core. To fundamentally improve the communities we serve, our organization established an inner city youth development system to deliberately influence a change in thoughts and attitudes by specifically targeting education, family support, leadership, and health.

Our CEO and Board:

A millennial and native of San Antonio who found inspiration at the nexus of business, community, and mentorship, Brandon Logan has carved a niche for himself as an entrepreneur, advocate, and speaker on all topics relating to diversity, business, and service. From receiving the San Antonio Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 Rising Star Award and the 2016 Community Impact Award by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. to being honored as a Community Legend by the San Antonio Chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women and being named by Essence Magazine as one of the 50 “Baddest Brothers” in America, Brandon’s accomplishments have been noted on local, national, and international levels. For his contributions, he has also received recognition from President Barack H. Obama, the United States Marine Corps, Rotary International, SA2020, and the San Antonio Express-News.

Currently, Brandon serves on the Board of Trustees at Hallmark University and on the Board of Directors at The We Can Learn Foundation, KLRN, Najim Family Foundation, Pre-K 4 San Antonio, Rotary Club of San Antonio, SAISD Foundation, and Valero Alamo Bowl. In addition, Brandon serves on the Advisory Boards for the San Antonio Lighthouse for the Blind and TexStar National Bank.

Becoming a Better YOU

After School Enrichment

This learning-based after school program aims to improve the academic & social development and performance of at-risk students by leveraging the sports platform as the attractor.

Program Outcomes

Our program focuses on children in communities that have been classified as “at risk for academic failure” based on family income, abnormal behavior, and poor school performance.

Lead Instructor – Becoming A Better You After School Enrichment Program

Urban Capital Partners (UCP) is committed to providing quality, organized, and structured programs that will enhance the overall development of children and youth through the power of sports to: promote physical fitness, enhance social mobility, and educate young minds in an empowering learning environment. Urban Capital Partners, Becoming A Better You Program is a school-based, after school enrichment program that is aimed to narrow the achievement and opportunity gaps that exist in the urban core school system by extending the traditional learning day for underserved students living within targeted zones.

Essential Duties and Functions:

A lead instructor is responsible for the supervision and management of their after school classroom while supporting UCP goals and outcomes. The lead instructor will follow the program’s daily schedule, ensure the safety and physical well-being of the children, and maintain regular communication with their parents and the site coordinator. Additionally, a lead instructor is expected to provide input on the effectiveness of the program and scheduled activities. All suggestions and recommendations by the lead instructor must be made in writing and submitted to the site coordinator on campus.

Administrative

  • Follow assigned program schedule and curriculum objectives.
  • Meet weekly with partner instructors to review plans for following week.
  • Meet weekly or as needed with site coordinator to review and log lesson plans, and account for materials needed for the following week.
  • Keep accurate record of daily activities within the program schedule.
  • Provide input in writing.

Environment

  • Use pre-program time to plan long and short-range activities in accordance with curriculum objectives and program goals.
  • Provide for a safe and healthy surroundings.
  • Create activities that are supportive to different cultures and backgrounds.

Children

  • Ensure all children in the program are tracked according to UCP expectations.
  • Communicate the effectiveness of the program’s academic needs of the children assigned to you with the site coordinator.
  • Engage children that allows them to grow at their own abilities.
  • Support children in their emotional and physical growth.
  • Assist children in their academics (encourage literacy and math skills).

Parents

  • Maintain daily, open communication with parents.
  • Complete appropriate paperwork to assist with parent/instructor communication.
  • Communicate child concerns with the parents and site coordinator.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age or older
  • A Bachelor’s degree in any field
  • CPR certified
  • Experience in classroom instruction

Reports To:

Site Coordinator

Hours:

Part-time, up to 15 hours each week 3:50pm – 6:20pm Monday through Friday during the school year.

Compensation:

Hourly rate will be based on qualifications and experience.

Site Coordinator – Becoming A Better You After School Enrichment Program

Urban Capital Partners (UCP) is committed to providing quality, organized, and structured programs that will enhance the overall development of children and youth through the power of sports to: promote physical fitness, enhance social mobility, and educate young minds in an empowering learning environment. Urban Capital Partners’, Becoming A Better You Program is a school-based, after school enrichment program that is aimed to narrow the achievement and opportunity gaps that exist in the urban core school system by extending the traditional learning day for underserved students living within targeted zones. 

Essential Duties and Functions:

The site coordinator is responsible for all aspects of the daily operation of assigned classrooms ensuring that each classroom functions at the highest quality standard while supporting UCP goals and outcomes. Working with the lead instructor, the site coordinator will oversee daily activities, monitor daily attendance in each classroom, ensure the safety and physical well-being of the children, maintain regular communication with parents and campus principal to ensure the Becoming A Better You Enrichment Program is effectively operating.

Administrative

  • Promote the values and mission of UCP in all interactions with children, parents, staff and school personnel.
  • Comply with all UCP policies, procedures, regulations and requirements.
  • Assist in the creation and monitoring of program budget.
  • Develop curriculum in support of UCP values and mission.
  • Participate actively with staff in the development and implementation of daily/monthly activity plans.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Assist with the hiring of program staff.
  • Provide on-going supervision to lead instructors including scheduled evaluations.
  • Ensure that all staff is kept informed of communications regarding the school community and the planned interaction between the Becoming A Better You Program and the school campus.
  • Monitor daily attendance in each classroom and follow up on children who are absent.
  • Assist, monitor, and ensure complete compliance of all registration requirements for of all program members.
  • Collect and track registration fees of all program members.
  • Be responsible for the individual files of all program members.
  • Monitor relationships between program members and parents.
  • Ensure that in each classroom children are protected from any hazards that are a threat to their physical safety and emotional well-being.
  • Report any and all concerns regarding children, staff, parents or facility immediately to the Executive Manager of UCP.

Required Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age or older
  • High School diploma
  • CPR certified
  • Minimum of 9 months experience working with school age children

Reports To:

Executive Manager of UCP

Hours:

Part-time, up to 15 hours each week 3:20pm – 6:20pm Monday through Friday during school year.

Compensation:

Hourly rate will be based on qualifications and experience.
